Caitlin Clark opened up about the news that fellow rookie Angel Reese’s season was done.
The Fever superstar called the development “sad” and said Reese had “done some incredible things” during her first season in the WNBA.
Reese announced on social media that her season was done Saturday night and the Sky confirmed the news, indicating that it was a wrist injury that forced the LSU product to cut her first pro campaign short.

“It’s obviously, definitely sad, anytime you see anybody go down with an injury, especially people that you came into this league with,” Clark said. “whether it was Cam [Brink], whether it was Angel, and especially Angel. Like, you want to see her finish out this year, obviously, she’s had a historic year, and she’s done some incredible things.”
While fans and pundits have pitted Clark and Reese as rivals, the two have shied away from steering into the narrative and expressed admiration for one another.

Reese ended her rookie season averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds, which helped her set a new WNBA single-season record for rebounds.
She also set a rookie record with 26 double-doubles.
“For me, getting to play against her, her motor is up there, if not the best in the league, like she just doesn’t stop working,” Clark continued. “So you know, congratulations to her, I thought she had a tremendous year, and I thought she came to the league and really did what she’s done well her entire career, as long as I’ve known her. So it’s definitely devastating. That’s never anything you want to see from a player.
“And then obviously, our rookie class has kind of been hit with a few more injuries than you would have liked to see.”
Clark, who has become the face of the WNBA in her first season and broken record after record, and Reese have been two of the driving forces behind the increased interest in women’s basketball dating back to their days playing in college.

Reese’s injury apparently occurred during Friday’s game against the Sparks.
“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol,” Reese wrote on Saturday on social media.
