EMINEM, BIG SEAN & MORE TO CELEBRATE REOPENING OF ICONIC DETROIT LANDMARK WITH EPIC CONCERT

Eminem and Big Sean are among those who have been tapped to celebrate the reopening of an iconic Detroit landmark.

A concert titled Live from Detroit is set to take place at Michigan Central Station on Thursday (June 6) to mark the building’s return after more than 30 years.

Executive produced by Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg, the event will also include performances from Common, Slum Village, Diana Ross, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Theo Parrish, The Clark Sisters and The Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Presenters such as Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jared Goff, Judge Greg Mathis, Loni Love, Sam Richardson, Taylor Lautner, Mike Epps and Sophia Bush are also expected to hit the stage.

The 90-minute concert will take place outdoors and will “ignite and showcase the spirit of Detroit through a lineup of musical performances, short films, appearances by local luminaries, and narratives of innovation and culture from across the city and the region.”

NBC will livestream the event on Peacock and their YouTube channel at 8:30 p.m. EST, followed by a one-hour special on NBC on June 9 at 7 p.m.

Ford acquired Michigan Central Station in 2018 and began renovating it, with plans to make it the centerpiece of Michigan Central.

“Michigan Central means a great deal to us all. In many ways, this building tells the story of our city,” said Bill Ford, executive chair of Ford (via CBS News). “This Station was our Ellis Island — a place where dreamers in search of new jobs and new opportunities first set foot in Detroit.

“But once the last train pulled out, it became a place where hope left. In 2018, I decided it was time to change that by reimagining this station as a place of possibility again.”

“Over the past six years, Ford Motor Company and teams of forward thinkers, designers, community leaders, and more than 3,000 skilled tradespeople have worked to bring this landmark back to life,” he added.

The concert comes less than a week after Eminem released his latest single “Houdini.”

The song already has over 23 million Spotify streams and is set to appear on his upcoming album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)
