Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese reacted to Los Angeles Sparks rookie Cameron Brink tearing her ACL and effectively ending her rookie year. Despite sending well wishes from the heart, she still found herself the subject of controversy as Caitlin Clark fans had something to say.
WNBA fans couldn’t help but include Caitlin Clark in a message from Angel Reese to Cameron Brink.
On Wednesday, Reese took to her X account and wished fellow rookie Cameron Brink a speedy recovery. She wrote, “Prayers for my sweet girl!” while tagging Brink and adding a prayer emoji.
Instead of sending prayers or giving her credit for being a good person, fans of Caitlin Clark took to her comments and blasted her:
Another WNBA matchup with Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese caused the latest wave of criticism. During the June 16 game between Clark’s Indiana Fever and Reese’s Chicago Sky, Reese would be on the receiving end of a flagrant foul.
In the second half, Clark attempted a layup when Reese hit Clark across the head, trying to block her shot. Refs reviewed the play and upgraded the call to a flagrant-1 foul.
Angel Reese Speaks Out After Flagrant Foul Against Caitlin Clark
Angel Reese was not happy as she addressed her flagrant foul against Caitlin Clark, who had social media talking after their second professional matchup.
Reese was charged with a flagrant foul for hitting Clark in the head with her arm while attempting to block her shot, and she spoke out against the call during her postgame presser, calling it a “basketball play.”
“I can’t control the refs. They affected the game, obviously, a lot tonight,” according to Yahoo! Sports. “I’m always going for the ball. But y’all are going to play that clip, what, 20 times before Monday?”
The Sky star then questioned the referees and stated that players like Caitlin Clark get preferential treatment. “I think we went up strong a lot of times, and we didn’t get a lot of calls,” she said. “Going back and looking at the film, I saw a lot of calls that weren’t made. I guess some people got a special whistle.”
