Sue Bird: Caitlin Clark’s Shooting is the ‘Antidote’ to Criticism of Women’s Basketball
Caitlin Clark Sparks a Surge in WNBA Popularity
Caitlin Clark has become a driving force behind the recent surge in the WNBA’s popularity. With ratings reaching levels reminiscent of the league’s early days, and a noticeable rise in overall attendance and interest, Clark is making a significant impact.
WNBA legend Sue Bird noted that Clark’s presence has played a crucial role in shifting the “negative” stereotypes often associated with women’s basketball. As the Indiana Fever rookie continues to captivate audiences, her influence extends beyond the court, contributing to the league’s growing success and appeal.

Larry Bird Praises Caitlin Clark’s Impact, Calls Long-Distance Threes the “Antidote” to Dunking
Larry Bird recently shared his thoughts on Caitlin Clark’s long-distance shooting prowess during an appearance on “Good Game with Sarah Spain.”
“With Caitlin, particularly her long-range threes, we’ve finally got the antidote to dunking,” Bird said. “For years, we heard complaints about women’s basketball being ‘boring’ because of the lack of dunks and suggestions to lower the rims for more excitement. But the long three-pointer is what it is—its distance is the same for everyone. It either goes in or it doesn’t.”
Bird believes Clark’s shooting has shattered the negative stereotypes surrounding women’s basketball and attracted a new wave of fans. “In a way, she’s jolted people out of their negative perceptions and drawn a huge new audience.”
Clark’s knack for lighting up the scoreboard quickly has thrilled fans and significantly boosted attendance at her road games.

Sky’s Angel Reese Fires Back After Critic’s Remark About NBA Summer League Game
Last week, Caitlin Clark’s fans packed the Target Center as the Indiana Fever secured a win against the Minnesota Lynx. Before the game, Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve downplayed the surge in attendance, stating she didn’t care about it. However, after the game, she had to face the facts.
“Everyone knows that the recent sellouts are because Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are visiting,” Reeve conceded, according to the New York Post. “Angel Reese has also significantly boosted attendance at Chicago Sky games, and likely on the road as well. The league needs to capitalize on these moments. It’s reminiscent of when Larry Bird and Magic Johnson entered the NBA. We’re witnessing a pivotal moment, and it’s crucial to seize it.”
