Jake Paul Truly Believes He Will Be A Boxing World Champion By 2025

Jake Paul steadfastly believes that he will become a boxing world champion some time in the next year. He currently has boxing bouts against Mike Perry on July 20th which was a last minute switch to fill the date after his bout against Mike Tyson was pushed back to November 15th due to a ‘health scare’ in Tyson’s camp (stomach ulcer flare up).
In order for Jake Paul to become a boxing world champion in the next year he has some mountains to climb. Jake believes he is unbeatable at 200 pounds (Cruiserweight division) and also thinks that nobody knows that because, as he tells it, nobody has seen him box in the past year.
He currently has a 9-1 boxing record with 6 KOs and his only loss coming in February in the form of a split decision against Tommy Fury. But despite those 9 wins, Jake Paul doesn’t have a WBC ranking because he hasn’t lined up any fights to earn WBC points and put himself on the path toward a boxing title. He came close and would have earned points had he boxed and beaten Hasim Rahman Jr. but that never came to fruition so Jake’s still unranked.
With all of that in mind, Jake Paul sat for an ESPN interview yesterday where he earnestly claims he’ll be a world champion in 2025 due to “God-given ability and willpower.”
The specific quotes surrounding Jake Paul’s quest to earn a belt comes around the 6-minute mark. Jake Paul says:
“I believe in 2025 I will most likely be a world champion. I think I’m ready for it in the next couple of months here and I’m most likely going to go for it in 2025. It’s really just my God-given ability and willpower to do this. People haven’t really seen me fight in the past year because of two first-round knockouts. If Mike Perry can make it out of the first or second round, maybe people will see a little more of me, but I don’t believe that anybody can hang with me at 200 pounds.”
Here’s the thing… It’s not as if Jake Paul couldn’t have used his unique position in the industry to set up fights where he would receive WBC points in pursuit of a ranking. The man has boxed 10 bouts. He could have lined them up more appropriately if he wanted to jumpstart his path to a championship belt but he has instead opted to go make tens and tens of millions of dollars along the way which many would argue is the smarter path.
As for Jake’s PFL debut, he addressed that as well. Saying he still wants to do it and has been trying to find the right opponent, adding that Nate Diaz turned down a $15 million offer. He did open the door for a Jake Paul vs Mike Perry MMA bout depending on what happens in their July 20th match…
