Diminished and downcast, Britney Spears‘s father has been seen for the first time since they settled their long running legal battle over the end of the infamous conservatorship which controlled almost every aspect of her life for more than a decade.

Exclusive pictures and video obtained by DailyMail.com and seen here for the first time today show Jamie Spears, 71, in a wheelchair as he visits a medical centre some 40 minutes from his home in Kentwood, Louisiana.

Jamie’s right leg was amputated above the knee at the end of last year after he was struck down by a bacterial infection that landed him in hospital and nearly cost him his life.

Now, these images show the toll that illness and years of battling with his famous daughter have taken on the once robust Jamie who has not been pictured in public since the end of last year.

Jamie Spears was seen out in public for the first time since settling his years-long battle with superstar daughter Britney Spears in April

The 71-year-old used a wheelchair as he left North Oaks Medical Centre in Hammond, Louisiana, on Tuesday after having his leg amputated in November

Earlier, Jamie visited two drive-thru pharmacies in Kentwood, the small Louisiana town that once proudly advertised itself as the birthplace of Britney Spears but where those signs are now long gone.

Driven by a woman who appeared to be his care-taker Jamie sat in the passenger seat as the pair spent several minutes at the window of two drive-thru pharmacies before driving to the Dollar Store on the outskirts of town.

Jamie, whose mobility is now severely limited, remained in the vehicle while his helper ran errands.

The pair then made the 40-minute drive from Kentwood to Hammond, some 35 miles away where Spears had an appointment at North Oaks Medical Centre’s Diagnostic Centre.

On arrival at the centre his aid fetched Jamie the wheelchair on which he now relies and pushed him through the facility’s double doors.

He emerged by himself some 20 minutes later, wheeling the chair to his waiting vehicle and wearing blue tape on his left arm suggesting that he had blood drawn during the brief appointment.

The father-daughter duo's lengthy legal battle finally came to an end in April with a settlement that requires Britney to pay Jamie's legal bills which are said to amount to more than $2million

It is two months since Jamie and his daughter reached a settlement over lingering issues concerning the end of the conservatorship that controlled nearly every aspect of her life for almost 14 years.

The settlement meant the avoidance of what many had predicted would be a long, ugly and revealing trial over final payments to the attorneys who helped operate the conservatorship and alleged financial malfeasance and excessive surveillance of Britney by her father.

The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed but legal documents filed in Los Angeles in April confirmed that Jamie had been, ‘fully and finally discharged as Former Conservator of the Estate’ and that Britney must pay her father’s $2million legal fees.

Clearly unhappy with the outcome that saw her fail to hold her father accountable for the ‘hurt’ she alleges he inflicted on her over the years, Britney took to Instagram in the aftermath of the settlement.

She posted: ‘My family hurt me! There has been no justice and probably never will be!’

Britney was placed under the conservatorship in 2008, where her father managed her financial and personal affairs following concerns for her mental health.

In recent years #FreeBritney became a cause célèbre with the singer ultimately released from her father and the conservatorship’s control when the arrangement was terminated in 2021.

But in the years since, concerns have grown over Britney’s increasingly erratic behavior and just last month it was reported that family members are pushing for her to be placed in the care of a new conservatorship.

The Toxic singer has had a strained relationship with her family in recent years. Dad Jamie, now 71, brother Bryan, 46, sister Jamie Lynn, 32, and mom Lynne, 69, are pictured with Britney in 2003

The 42-year-old singer has been accused of refusing her mental health medication while drinking and taking other drugs – sparking fears of a relapse given her history with substance abuse,

After her brief marriage to third husband Sam Ashgari, 30, ended with the couple’s separation after 14 months in August 2023 and a divorce that was finalized last month, she is said to be allowing her felon boyfriend Paul Soliz to ‘run her household and her life.’

Soliz, 37, has been charged with multiple misdemeanors and at least one felony – possession of a firearm in December 2022.

He was back in court in September 2023 for allegedly violating his probation.

And, while fears grow over the healthiness of that relationship, those closest to Britney say she cannot be reasoned with because her ‘mood swings often turn into rages that end in physical violence.’

Meanwhile her Instagram posts in which she dances naked or near naked make for increasingly troubling viewing.

Last month TMZ reported that multiple sources have reached out concerned that her ‘mental health is in a tailspin’ and they fear the only way forward is to place the mother-of-two under another conservatorship.

The site claimed that she is, ‘in danger of hurting herself or others,’ adding ‘there are times we’re told it’s impossible to communicate with her because she can’t engage in rational conversation.’
