Caitlin Clark opened up about her feelings regarding the media coverage of the WNBA, especially the various narratives surrounding her rookie season.

One common theme that often arises is whether Caitlin Clark is being singled out by veteran players in the league, despite the attention she brings to women’s basketball.

The buzz grew louder when Chicago’s Chennedy Carter seemed to shout ‘You b****’ before colliding with Clark during their June 1 matchup. When questioned about the controversial assumptions, Clark shared her thoughts on how the media depicts the league.

“Sometimes it’s frustrating how much the conversation strays away from basketball,” Clark said.

“And not focusing on the product on the court, the incredible players, and the positive impact this season has had on women’s basketball, transitioning from college to the WNBA,” Clark added.

The No. 1 overall pick also disclosed that although she tries to avoid the social media chatter, she can’t help but notice how stories about her and her peers are portrayed.

“I’m not on social media, so I don’t see a lot of it,” Clark added. “But you’d be surprised, I still have my TV on in my house, and I watch sports. You’re still aware of it. You still see it. But other than that, my focus is basketball.”

Adding to the increased physicality, Caitlin Clark’s college rival and fellow Chicago rookie, Angel Reese, has been openly taking shots at the No. 1 overall pick.

Apart from targeting Clark on social media following a victory over the New York Liberty in May, Reese declared that she embraced the role of being the ‘villain’ after applauding Carter for her physical play against the former Iowa standout.
