Stephen Curry will NOT play in the Warriors’ next four NBA games but Golden State says the two-time MVP is ‘making good progress’ ahead of return from injury
Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors will miss at least four more games due to left leg problems, the team said on Wednesday.
Curry, who recently returned to Warriors practice, is’making good progress,’ according to the team, and will be reevaluated in one week.
The Warriors return to action after the All-Star break with a road game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
They will next play a five-game homestand against the Houston Rockets on Friday, the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Clippers on March 2nd, and the New Orleans Pelicans on March 3rd.
Following Curry’s injury on February 4 in a win against the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors went 2-3 before the All-Star break.
Curry had ‘partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane, as well as a bruise to his left lower leg,’ according to the report.
This season, Curry, 34, averages 29.4 points, 6.4 assists, and 6.3 rebounds per game. He was named an All-Star for the tenth time, but he did not play in the game on Sunday in Salt Lake City.
The two-time NBA MVP has career averages of 24.5 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.7 rebounds.
The Warriors are currently ninth in the Western Conference. They are only one game behind sixth place, the final automatic playoff position, and one game ahead of two teams tied for eleventh place.
The teams finishing seventh through tenth place compete in a play-in tournament for the conference’s final two postseason invitations.
On Thursday, Golden State will be without another starter. Andrew Wiggins, who missed the last game before the break due to personal issues, is also classified as ‘out’ for the game against the Clippers.
