Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Buddy Hield Hyped as ‘Splash Buddies’ by Fans After Contract

The time of the Splash Brothers may be over for the Golden State Warriors, but the next era is just beginning.
After trading Steph Curry’s longtime backcourt partner Klay Thompson, the Warriors acquired Buddy Hield through a sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Warriors fans are now hyping Curry and Hield as a Splash duo with a new name:
Curry and Thompson earned their nickname as their record three-point shooting combined to help lead the Warriors to four titles between 2015 and 2022.
That left some fans protective of the nickname the two earned together while shaping a Warriors dynasty:
Now that Thompson has reportedly agreed to a sign-and-trade deal that will send him to the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State will look to recreate that dominance from behind the arc by adding Hield.
The sharpshooter, who most recently played for the Philadelphia 76ers, is the only player other than Curry to have topped 1,000 three-pointers made since 2000.
Hield’s deal comes with a guaranteed $21 million over the first two years, according to Wojnarowski.
The contract also has a $3 million partial guarantee for 2026-27 and a non-guaranteed player option for the following season, Wojnarowksi reported.
If Hield can continue his dominance from behind the arc in Golden State, he could be set to work with Curry for at least the next two seasons.
