LIL WAYNE PICKS A SIDE IN DRAKE & KENDRICK LAMAR BEEF

Lil Wayne Seemingly Picks A Side In Drake & Kendrick Lamar Beef

Lil Wayne appears to have finally let it be known where his allegiance lies in the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

While performing his 2011 Drake collaboration “The Motto” in Las Vegas over the weekend, the Young Money founder held up his OVO chain to the crowd and seemingly rapped the refrain from Kendrick’s chart-topping diss song “Not Like Us.”

Reactions to the gesture were mixed, with fans undecided on what Wayne’s intent was. Some believe he was backing his former understudy Drizzy, while others interpreted it as co-sign for his “Mona Lisa” collaborator K. Dot.

Upon closer inspection of the footage, however, Weezy can be heard putting his spin on Kendrick’s chorus and instead saying: “They don’t like us.”

Lil Wayne is actually mentioned on “Not Like Us,” with Kendrick referencing Drake once sleeping with his former label boss’ girlfriend.

“Fucked on Wayne girl while he was in jail, that’s connivin’/ Then get his face tatted like a bitch apologizin,’” he raps.

This revelation was shared by Wayne himself in his 2016 book Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island, although he clarified that it happened before he and his then-girlfriend began dating.

“I woke up still feeling fucked up about the fucked-up day that I had. Hell is what it was! I’m used to arguing with my girl [daily], but finding out that she fucked Drake was the absolute worst thing I could’ve found out,” he wrote.

“As a man, honestly, that shit hurt, and not because it was Drake. It could’ve been any man, and it would’ve hurt the same. She said it happened way before we got together, but she just never told me. When Drizzy came to see me, he was like, ‘Yeah, it’s true … don’t fuck with her like that ’cause I did fuck her.’ Damn!”

He added: “This is the type of shit that a man never wants to find out while he’s locked up. Or maybe so, ’cause only God knows what I would’ve done if I wasn’t locked up right now. As soon as I found out, I told them to just lock me in, and I’ve basically just been by myself in my cell for the last couple of days. […] As a man, I’ll admit it: That shit really fucked me up.

Although Lil Wayne’s above performance marks his first time commenting on the feud, he did recently support Drake by naming him as one of his favorite rappers of all time — in a list that, perhaps tellingly, doesn’t include Kendrick Lamar.

“My Top 5 rappers of all time are JAY-Z, Missy Elliott, Eminem, ummm… The Notorious B.I.G. — oh, and this is no specific order right here — and Drizzy,” he said on NFL star Cam Heyward’s Not Just Football podcast.
