“Mayweather vs. Gotti III: Floyd Mayweather Faces 20-Pound Disadvantage in High-Stakes Rematch”

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Faces Size Disadvantage in Rematch Against John Gotti III

This Saturday, Floyd Mayweather Jr. steps back into the ring for a highly anticipated rematch with John Gotti III in an exhibition match at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. While Mayweather’s legendary experience and skill give him a clear edge, he faces a significant size disadvantage against his younger opponent.

In their first encounter in June 2023, Gotti weighed in at 181 pounds, whereas Mayweather chose not to disclose his weight. For this rematch, Mayweather stepped onto the scales fully clothed, weighing in at 160.38 pounds. Gotti, once again, tipped the scales at 181 pounds, putting Mayweather at a more than 20-pound disadvantage heading into the fight.

Their initial matchup was a chaotic affair, with Mayweather’s showboating and taunting eventually frustrating Gotti. The tension escalated to such a degree that referee Kenny Bayless was forced to stop the fight due to excessive trash talk. This decision sparked a brawl between the fighters and their corners. Although Gotti was initially suspended for six months following the incident, the suspension was later overturned.

Despite their turbulent history, the weigh-in for the rematch proceeded without any issues on Friday. Both fighters made weight and participated in a final faceoff, setting the stage for a more definitive showdown this Saturday.
