Canelo Alvarez is seeking a substantial payout for a potential bout against the undefeated David Benavidez. Benavidez has wanted a match with Canelo at 168 pounds for years, but he has not received the opportunity against the renowned boxer. Benavidez eventually stopped pursuing a fight with Canelo and moved up to 175 pounds.

Despite facing criticism, Canelo’s stance has remained unchanged in recent months. He acknowledges that he is a major moneymaker in the boxing world and believes his extensive track record entitles him to demand substantial compensation. Moreover, he also addressed certain things.

Obviously he’s a risk, he’s a great fighter. Plus he brings to the ring on fight night 25lbs more than me.
It’s a risk but I don’t care. If the money’s right it can be tomorrow.

Recently, David Benavidez fought against Oleksandr Gvozdyk and defeated him to win the WBC interim light heavyweight title. On the other hand, Canelo went up against Jaime Munguia and comfortably defeated him. Interestingly, Canelo lost the last time he moved up to 175 to challenge Dmitry Bivol.

Alvarez believes Benavidez is a threat because of his size, impressive talent, and boxing intelligence. On the other hand, the ’Mexican Monster’ is determined to conquer the 175-pound weight class and challenge Dmitry Bivol, who previously defeated Alvarez in the light heavyweight division.

Given the conditions set by Eddy Reynoso‘s fighter, Alvarez and Benavidez might not have a chance to fight in the ring. The only person who seemed willing to provide the necessary funds for a potential match against Terence Crawford was the Saudi Delegate Turki Alalshikh. However, he has now mentioned that he is not interested in meeting Canelo’s requirements.

I’m not an expert on ‘Canelo’ so I cannot say whether he will take
this fight or not but as a fan of boxing I would love to see this fight.
I hope this fight will take place. When is another question, a question of boxing, of business, but that would be an interesting fight to watch.
