Rapper shares an Eminem lyric he believes proves his songs aren’t that complicated.

Cassidy talks about the ‘Science of Rap’ and uses Eminem as an example.

Cassidy went where almost no rapper dares to go and that’s critiquing Eminem’s ability to spit rhymes.

He is indeed a very brave man.

Marshall Mathers is largely acknowledged by the industry as being one of the greats, yet Philadelphia rapper Cassidy thinks some of his songs really aren’t that complicated.

Watch below as he explains the ‘Science of Rap’:

During a sit down interview with Math Hoffa in 2021, the songwriter explains how Slim Shady uses just one syllable in some of his most famous lines, which he considers to be not very complicated.

“He’s not technical all the time,” says Cassidy.

“He’s piecing up syllables but sometimes he don’t, sometimes he rhyme one syllable.”

The Philadelphia rapper then proceeds to rap Eminem’s ‘The Way I Am’ to show us what he’s talking about.

“I sit back with this pack of Zig-Zags and this bag / Of this weed, it gives me the s**t needed to be / The most meanest MC on this on this Earth / And since birth I’ve been cursed with this curse to just curse,” raps Cassidy.

“That’s one syllable. It’s just y’all think he piecing up all these syllables.

“He do rhyme more syllables in other raps but a lot of times he just don’t even be piecing up it’s just a lot of rhymes and you think that he killing it.”

He then raps some of Em’s ‘multiple syllable’ lines off ‘My Name Is’, to give us an example: “Hi, kids, do you like violence? / Wanna see me stick nine-inch nails through each one of my eyelids? / Wanna copy me and do exactly like I did? / Try ‘cid and get f**ked up worse than my life is?”

“That’s the piece-up, the two-syllable piece-up!” he says, while explaining how ‘two-syllable’ raps are more difficult and what he considers to be ‘the best Eminem’.

“I know the science of this s**t is a two-syllable piece up,” Cassidy says.

“That’s the best Eminem right there. When he rap like that, that’s when I really like him.

“But a lot of people don’t even understand the way that you’re supposed to rhyme and piece it up.

“You gotta really break the science down the proper way like not just rappers, fans too, everybody.

“Like I know this is one syllable, this is two, this three, this is this.

“Once people could do that, rappers gonna have to step it up and fans gonna demand more cause they’re gonna understand better.”

Well it’s hard to work out if Cassidy is actually an Em fan or not, but one thing’s for sure, he certainly knows his work.
