The Curry Family Tree: A dynasty of NBA stars
The surname Curry is one of the most recognizable in the NBA. The family has seen success at all levels, and their brand only continues to get stronger.
The NBA has seen plenty of familial connections over the past few decades (the Holiday brothers, the Antetokounmpo brothers and the Lopez brothers to name a few). Arguably none of these families have had the impact and success that the Currys have had, collectively.
Furthermore, unlike other industries, it is extremely hard to stick around in the NBA without the required skillset An extremely famous surname and all the riches to go with it are just not enough. The league consists of four hundred of the world’s best players, and there are thousands more waiting in line to grab a spot.

Considering all this, it really is a fantastic achievement for the Curry family to have stuck around for so long, and to have done it with the utmost integrity. Without further ado, let’s do a deep dive into the who’s who of this star-studded family.
Dell Curry
A fired up Dell Curry during one of his games for the Charlotte Hornets
Dell Curry had a 16-year-old NBA career spanning a range of teams, including the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Hornets, and the Toronto Raptors. Dell was an extremely prolific three-point shooter and scorer, and ended his career as the all-time leading scorer for the Charlotte Hornets.
Post-retirement from the NBA, Dell has remained active in basketball circles, working as a commentator for the Hornets’ home broadcast.
Fun fact about Dell: He was also an exceptional baseball player and was drafted into the MLB in 1985. He chose to play in the NBA instead.
Seth Curry
Seth and Steph faced off in the Western Conference Finals in 2019
Seth Curry is a shooting guard currently playing for the Brooklyn Nets. Like Dell, he’s one of the greatest three-point scorers, ranking third all-time in terms of career three-point percentage.
Seth had an unconventional journey to the NBA, having to go through multiple G-League stints and 10-day contracts before finding a home with the Sacramento Kings. His value as a solid NBA player has increased each year, and Seth now often finds himself playing in clutch minutes for the Nets.
Steph Curry
2022 NBA Finals – Game Six
Steph Curry needs no introduction. He might just be the most influential player of the 2010s, completely changing the way basketball is being played. Steph was a superstar in college. He willed a small D1 school Davidson to a fairy-tale run in the NCAA March Madness tournament, reaching the elite eight.
Steph’s first few years were anything but smooth as he battled an array of ankle injuries and just could not stay healthy. However, after finding the right set of trainers and Steve Kerr’s arrival at Golden State, Steph Curry ascended to superstardom, becoming the face of the NBA.
He cemented his place in the Mount Rushmore of basketball last season when he won his fourth title and his first finals MVP. To date, Steph remains the only unanimous regular season MVP in history.
Damion Lee
Lee was a solid player off the bench for the Warriors
Damion Lee is a shooting guard for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA. He had an excellent college career with the Drexel Dragons, playing as their starting point guard. However, things did not quite go as planned, and Lee did not get drafted into the league.
He hustled and got a spot in the Santa Cruz Warriors (G-League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors). After some great performances in the G-League, Damion was offered a two-way contract by the Golden State Warriors in 2018.
He would eventually end up winning a ring with the Warriors in 2022, before signing as a free agent with the Suns. Statistically, Damion is having the best season of his career so far, shooting a blistering 48.5% from behind the arc.
Doc Rivers
Doc Rivers is a Hall of Fame level coach
Doc Rivers had a fantastic NBA career as a player, playing for 13 years in the league. He was also named an All-Star in 1988, an accomplishment only a handful of players have achieved. However, one could argue that he’s had an even better career as a coach.
Doc is mainly known for being the head coach of the Boston Celtics team that won the NBA championship in 2008. After leaving the Celtics, Doc headed the Clippers, arguably one of the most fun teams in the NBA during the mid 2010s. He is now the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Austin Rivers
Oklahoma City Thunder v Minnesota Timberwolves
Austin Rivers is an explosive combo guard currently playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was heavily recruited in college and ended up as a one-and-done player at Duke University.
Austin was drafted as a lottery pick by the New Orleans Pelicans. However, most fans will remember Austin as an integral part of the “Lob City” Clippers. Since 2018, Austin has bounced around the league to multiple teams, but he remains an invaluable player on the bench for any team.
