“Angel Reese Thrilled to Be Caitlin Clark’s Teammate, Dreams of Joining Her at the Olympics”
Caitlin Clark guarantees gold for Team USA — but is ready for ‘rest and relaxation’ during Olympic break
The WNBA’s Olympic break is a much-needed respite for Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.
Over the past nine months, Clark has been immersed in basketball, transitioning seamlessly from a record-setting senior season at Iowa into her first year with the WNBA. Following her role in Team WNBA’s victory over Team USA in the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, she now looks forward to nearly four weeks of rest before the league resumes play.
“I honestly can’t wait to not touch a basketball for a while,” Clark, who contributed 10 assists in the All-Star Game, humorously noted after the event.
Despite her exclusion from the U.S. Olympic team, Clark experienced “no disappointment” from the snub. Instead, she sees the upcoming four-week break as a valuable opportunity for rest and recovery.
Clark is set to enjoy a well-earned break after a whirlwind year of basketball.
Her busy schedule began on October 15, 2023, with Iowa’s historic exhibition game marking the start of the season. Just eight days after the end of her senior season on April 7, she was drafted first overall by the Fever. Training camp followed just 13 days after the draft.
Although USA Basketball’s decision to leave Clark off the Olympic roster has sparked some controversy, she now has the chance to fully utilize this break. Instead of heading to Europe for the Olympics in a week, Clark will not play another significant game until August 16.
In a social media post after the All-Star Game, Clark shared her excitement for the upcoming “rest and relaxation.”

Despite some controversy surrounding Team USA’s roster decisions, Caitlin Clark expressed pride in her role in helping the national team prepare and voiced strong support for their quest for an eighth consecutive gold medal.
“From my standpoint, this is a great opportunity to help prepare them for Paris,” Clark said after the All-Star Game. “I’m gonna be supporting them and cheering them on, and I love the Olympics. I’ve loved the Olympics ever since I was a young kid.”
“They’re going to be just fine—they’re going to win gold and dominate, so I’m not worried.”

In her first 26 WNBA games, Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and a league-leading 8.2 assists per game, while also logging the second-most minutes among all players this season.
Given her impressive performance after a quick turnaround from her senior season at Iowa, the league might see an even more formidable version of the rookie coming off a month-long break.
WNBA fans have plenty to look forward to as Clark’s career progresses.
