Grip Shares Best Advice He Received From Eminem

You might have heard this piece of wisdom before, but coming from a man who had found an iconic look for his stage persona when fooling around drunk – it rings true.

Grip sat down with Mike Boyd on this week’s Monday To Monday podcast to talk about his new album, and by the end of their conversation, he faced “the most important question”, as the host put it. He asked Grip if there was anything that stood out to him during conversations with Eminem. The advice is just to be yourself and let everything else come to you was the most impressive, says Grip. Probably, because he learned how Eminem himself was worried about it at the beginning of his road:

When he started out, Eminem was worried if he had the IT factor. And he told me, “Don’t worry. It will come to you”. That’s the story about him and Royce being drunk as fuck back in the day. He wakes up, and his hair is blonde. They dyed his hair when drunk, and it became a thing. See, how iconic he is now, and me, being fascinated with his music as a kid, hearing the backstory from the man himself made sense, Like, I get it now. It should just come to you. It was some of the best advice I got. Don’t force shit, be yourself, and you’ll be cool. You’ll be good.

Interesting that this blonde hair came up in Marshall’s lyrics on his joint with Grip “Walkthrough!”. Perhaps this conversation brought some memories to the surface:
