NASAAN Honors His Father, Big Proof, Sharing His Letter From European Tour With Eminem
NASAAN, the rising star from Detroit, continues to carry the torch for his late father and D12 legend, Big Proof. While building his own impressive career as a rapper, producer, and director, NASAAN remains deeply connected to his roots and the legacy of his father.
One of NASAAN’s traits that show his father’s influence is NASAAN’s sobriety. To show how Big Proof shaped this approach in his son, NASAAN shared a powerful letter written by his father, Big Proof, during a tour with Eminem 20 years ago. The letter serves as a sobering reminder of the challenges faced by young people and the importance of family and self-belief. NASAAN posted a picture of it on his socials with a caption:
A lot of you know I don’t drink or do drugs & I always say its because of a letter my dad wrote me while on tour with Marshall somewhere overseas… thought I’d share this because it’s powerful and may could help someone
In the letter Big Proof says to his son:
“Right is right. Not drugs and smoking, although I have did my share of dumbness, but it’s all nothing. I went 2 years straight not a smoke or a drink but fucked up when I was 26 years old. I hope that you can trust yourself, listen to that trust yourself, to know what you want and don’t want to do. Life is what you make it. I know now if I had discipline in my home, then my schooling would have been completed, but I reached the level of success without high school. This world is so crazy. It’s like every angle is covered in traps and pitfalls. Be aware, trust no one but family, and love them more when they fuck up. Because family is what made me, and you and your brother is what I call family, and your mother made us work. Peace son. Proof.”
Big Proof’s words offer valuable insights into his struggles and the lessons he learned along the way. The letter encourages NASAAN to trust his instincts, stay true to himself, and prioritise family. It’s a beautiful reminder of the enduring bond between father and son and the lasting impact of a parent’s guidance.
NASAAN’s decision to share this personal letter with his fans shows his openness and vulnerability. It’s clear that Big Proof’s legacy continues to inspire and shape NASAAN’s journey in the music industry.
NASAAN talked about it on his latest album, “ERROR 404”, which was a testament to his Atlanta upbringing and acknowledged his Detroit roots. The album, NASAAN believes, his father would be proud to hear.
